EO:EUM:DAT:METOP:IASPCR01IASI Principal Component Residuals - MetopseriesAtmospheric conditionsRadiationLevel 1 DataEUMETSAT Data Centre2013-02-04The main objective of the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) is to provide high resolution atmospheric emission spectra to derive temperature and humidity profiles with high spectral and vertical resolution and accuracy. Additionally it is used for the determination of trace gases such as ozone, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide and methane, as well as land and sea surface temperature, emissivity and cloud properties. The IASI Principal component residuals product are the differences between IASI radiance spectra (see the IASI GDS L1C), and the same spectra compressed by the Principal Component Analysis method (see the IASI Principal component scores). By combining the noise-reduced spectra reconstructed from the principal component scores with the principal component residuals, one obtains radiance spectra identical to the original ones to within the quantisation step. 2011-01-11Full Global-copyrightcopyrightIASPCR01IASPCR1C2010-07-29-180.0 -90.0180.0 90.0
